PassUK is a "Life in the UK Test" study app. We built it to work offline by default — your study progress, quiz results, plan data, and preferences are stored locally on your device and are not sent anywhere unless you explicitly choose to use optional cloud features.
We do not sell your data to third parties, and we do not use it for advertising purposes.
The following data is stored exclusively in your device's local storage. It never leaves your device unless you turn on Cloud Backup (see §2.3):
| Data | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Study progress (questions answered, scores, streaks) | Track your learning across sessions |
| PassPlan state (exam date, current day, daily records) | Power the personalised daily study plan |
| Spaced-repetition profile (SRS state per question) | Prioritise weak topics in future sessions |
| Language and UI preferences (font size, motion, voice speed, night mode) | Remember your accessibility and display choices |
| Pro access status (cached entitlement from the store) | Unlock Pro features without querying the store every time |
Legal basis (EU/UK GDPR): Legitimate interest in providing the core functionality of the app.
When the backend is enabled, the app sends anonymous usage events to our backend (Supabase). These events include:
What we do NOT collect in analytics:
Events are assigned a random, locally generated session token that is not linked to any account or identity.
Legal basis: Legitimate interest in understanding how the app is used so we can improve it.
If you choose to back up your progress to the cloud, the app creates a snapshot of your local study data and uploads it to our secure backend (Supabase). The backup:
You can delete your backup at any time from the app menu.
Legal basis: Performance of the service you explicitly requested.
Pro upgrade purchases are processed by RevenueCat and the relevant platform store (Google Play or Apple App Store). PassUK does not receive or store your payment card details.
RevenueCat may collect technical data (device type, OS version, purchase history, store receipt) to verify and manage your entitlement. See RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.
Legal basis: Performance of the contract (purchase fulfilment).
When you use the read-aloud feature, text is passed to your device's built-in TTS engine (e.g. Google Text-to-Speech on Android). PassUK does not transmit any text to our own servers for speech synthesis.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with any third parties for their own purposes, except:
We do not integrate any third-party advertising SDKs.
| Data | Retention |
